ALONSO ATTRACTING MORE INTEREST

Arsenal have made an approach for Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

The Spaniards proposed move to Juventus appears to have fallen through and with Arsene Wenger in the market for a high quality midfielder, Alonso has now been added to the Arsenal manager's list of summer targets.

Alonso's agent Inaki Ibanez has confirmed the approach.

He said: "The player knows about this subject and now the decision lies with Liverpool."
