Aston Villa have fined Reds target Gareth Barry for giving an 'unauthorised' newspaper interview at the weekend in which he said he wanted to sign for Liverpool.
Villa have also told the player not to report back for pre-season training.
Boss Martin O'Neill said: "Gareth will not be returning to training tomorrow and he has been disciplined after giving an unauthorised interview to the News of the World."
Meanwhile 19-year-old Emiliano Insua has signed a new three-year contract with the Reds.

ROBBIE KEANE LATEST
Reports this evening claim that Robbie Keane has not handed in a transfer request.
From what we're reading Spurs are trying to discredit the claims but everything seems really tightly worded.
For example he may not have "handed in" a transfer request but he may have verbally requested to leave. It's that kind of stuff we're seeing and if Spurs are denying it, why is there no official statement on their website?
We're not convinced. We think there's a play on the words we're seeing and we believe that the player has made it clear he'd be up for a move to Anfield. We just don't know how he's done that.
