GERRARD INJURED

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has left the pre-season training camp in Switzerland to return to Melwood after picking up a groin injury.

It is hoped that the Reds skipper will only be out of action for up to 10 days.

Press officer Ian Cotton said: "Steven has a slight groin strain which will keep him out for between seven and ten days.

"He has left the training camp to return to Melwood where he will receive treatment on the injury."
